Life happens ‘in relationship’.
We interact with the environment around us, from the air we breathe to the people we encounter, and it is through these interactions that we become who we are.
Group therapy has proven to be a resource of enormous value in bereavement processes, as well as in post-therapeutic support for addictions, eating disorders, and addressing moments of personal growth linked to existential and/or identity issues.
Life happens ‘in relationships.’ We interact with the environment that surrounds us, from the air to the people around us, and it is this interaction that leads us to be who we are. For this reason, group therapy can be the field of practice appropriate to address certain situations in our lives or simply a space for personal growth among equals. The group becomes a laboratory of experiences where we can adjust our way of being, doing, and relating to other people and ourselves.
Being aware of my ‘I’ means realizing how I live through my bodily sensations, feelings, and thoughts. It involves recognizing how I internally translate ‘reality,’ what sensations I experience, what emotions I connect to, and what I tell myself about what is happening to me.
Secondly, awareness of the ‘YOU’ refers to “how I interact with…” and how I learn to engage with others. It involves learning to say yes, to say no, to open up or close off, to move closer or withdraw, and, especially, to set boundaries. It means ‘contacting’ with an OTHER without losing or denying myself. It is about learning how to be with myself and with the other, from a place of mutual respect.
Finally, becoming aware that we are part of a group allows us to recognize that there is a system or ‘field’ with its own laws, codes, and values. I can then realize how I position myself within it, how I manage my needs in the field in which I operate, how I experience feelings of belonging and difference, and what my fears and desires are in relation to these feelings.
Therapeutic groups will be announced on our website and social media, along with information about the minimum and maximum number of participants for each session, the session dates, the topics, and the number of initial sessions.
If this is the therapeutic setting you are interested in, you can also contact me for a free online introductory meeting.
